Labquality is expanding its external quality assessment (EQA) offering with a new Genomics & Molecular Pathology programme designed for laboratories performing molecular oncology testing. The programme launches with four EQA schemes for NGS-based cancer panel testing, supporting laboratories in assessing the quality of somatic variant detection, interpretation and reporting.
Developed in collaboration with genomics experts, the new programme combines clinically relevant sample materials with comprehensive performance assessment and efficient electronic reporting. Building on Labquality's more than 50 years of experience in external quality assessment, it supports laboratories in maintaining and improving the quality of molecular oncology testing.
Supporting quality in molecular oncology testing
Participation in the Genomics & Molecular Pathology EQA programme helps laboratories:
- assess laboratory performance using clinically relevant materials
- evaluate variant detection, interpretation and reporting
- identify opportunities for quality improvement
- support accreditation and continuous quality management
- benchmark performance against peer laboratories
Four new EQA schemes for cancer panel testing
The programme is designed for laboratories using next-generation sequencing (NGS), targeted cancer panels and other molecular methods for analysing somatic variants in cancer samples.
The first four schemes focus on FFPE-based cancer panel testing:
- NGS in Clinical Oncology – Pan Cancer (6810)
- NGS in Clinical Oncology – Breast Cancer (6811)
- NGS in Clinical Oncology – Colorectal Cancer (6812)
- NGS in Clinical Oncology – Lung Cancer (6813)
The portfolio will continue to expand with new EQA schemes and pilot rounds, including schemes using sample materials suitable for cell-free DNA (cfDNA) analysis, to meet the evolving needs of molecular diagnostics laboratories.
